So the Moet on Magazine is tonight. I worked today from 10 until 3. My boss was kind enough to give me a three hour break to go home, shower, get primped, and all that good stuff. I stopped by the hair salon to get my eyebrows waxed and ended up chatting up the owners about working there as a full time receptionist...again. They had interviewed me once already right after we moved to the city, but they had a whole list of people who wanted the job. I was also a little afraid I wouldn't fit so well there (since they were looking for a fashionably foward person...and I am, if anything, more fashionably eclectic). That same day I got hired on at my current job and never really gave them another thought. Apparently they really want me to work there and tried to call several times over the past couple months. I need more hours and a more stable pay situation, so I may end up there after all. I feel a little bad about leaving where I am, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Who knows. Things never seem to work out the way I want them to.

Anyway. What was I saying...oh yeah....the party tonight.

So here I sit, freshly showered and shaved, painting my fingernails. I'm a little terrified at the idea of wearing heels tonight. Last time I wore heels at the store, I ended up tumbling down the front steps and tearing a hole in my knee (I've got an awful scar to forever remember the experience). I'm such a klutz.

I'm hoping things will get interesting once everyone has a little champagne in their system. I'm going to bring my camera and keep my fingers crossed.

Ahhh. My music finally came in the mail today. It's so good.

So, there's a function this Saturday night on Magazine Street. Since I work on the street, I'm afraid I'll have to attend whether I want to or not. heh. I am sensing a 10am - 10pm work day in my immediate future. *sighs* Since it's sponsored by Moet Champagne, at least there will be plenty of liquid happiness for me to consume.

So we've finally finished up watching this years eight Horrorfest flicks. Crazy Eights wrapped things up last night. It was an ok movie, but we both felt like there could have been more...and it would have been a better movie. If you must see one, I recommend The Deaths of Ian Stone. It's not scary horror, more horror-themed, but out of them all it was the best overall as far as effects, catching you in the beginning, and wrapping things up well in the end. Clint would recommend Borderland. A crazy Mexican blood cult, clueless college kids just out for a good time, explicit scenes of torture...oh yeah. It was cringe worthy. Mulberry St was good and creepy. Zombie rat people...*shudders* Lake Dead was just...wrong on so many levels. Nightmare Man was actually kind of funny. Tooth and Nail wasn't too bad. Cannibals are always pretty interesting. Unearthed was the worst, I'm afraid. It was a neat idea, of course. It also had a hot female lead. It just failed to deliver. It might have been better had not the monster looked so much like an Alien. I just felt like any moment Sigourney Weaver was going to pop up and scream, "Get away from her, you bitch!"

Clint has been put in charge while his manager is away getting one of his kidney's and his...pancreas (I think) replaced. It's good because he's going to be getting lots of hours and this-is-my-store-you-will-obey-me experience in. It's bad because he's having to work some open to close shifts. Too much Radioshack in one day = violent drop in Clint's sanity. Good thing I keep him heavily medicated. heh. I kid.

Today marked the release of the second subbed episode of Vampire Knight. I've been keeping up with the manga (love it) and am just beside myself seeing it animated. Kaname-senpai!! *swoons* There will actually be Naruto Shippuuden filler starting this week, but no manga. Damn it. Just when things are getting beyond awesome. The movie should be subbed soon, so that's something to look forward to. This week's Bleach episode is also that last one in the story line for a while. Filler is about to kick into gear for that show as well. I guess we should use this as an opportunity to check out some of the newer anime series that just started up. I've been reading the xxxHolic manga. It's pretty freakin' awesome. I want to be like Yuuko. If my net wasn't so stupid I'd start downloading the anime.

And.................................................yep. That's it.

What a day.

Work.
Need to remember that even though the furniture is used for display it is also antique and for sale. Scratches are unacceptable!
Work.

Afterward, I took a trip across the river to the mall to pick up my pre-ordered copy of Naruto: Ultimate Ninja 3. Apparently you can unlock the 4th Hokage in this one. Yosh! Crack anyone? heh. Random: the little coffee shop in Oakwood has the tastiest iced coffee drinks. I also pre-ordered the new OURS cd. I am eagerly anticipating this album. Distorted Lullabies I love. Love I tell you! Precious was okay, but it disappointed me a little(even though the critics liked it better than the previous). The songs I've heard off Mercy sound like they put both albums into a bottle, shook it, and poured out the happy medium.

That's right.
Shaken.
Not stirred.

Clint's started drawing again. I need to inquire where he can get some nice art supplies. I must remember! Lately my mind has had to be in a million places at once.

Life is hectic down here.

It's been over a week since we've moved to our new home, and I still am amazed by how much I enjoy being here. Sure it seems to rain for at least an hour every day, but it keeps the air cool and clean. I feel like I can finally breathe, and oddly I want to take pictures of everything. Maybe I'll take up photography.

So, we've both been keeping busy. Clint dove head first into his work and has been doing his best to become king of Canal St. I, by some strange twist of fate, managed to find a job on Magazine Street within an hour of looking. The store I work at is called Objets Trouvés which means (or so I'm told) Found Objects. It's quite an eclectic collection she has going on. Basically my boss (Linda) travels around and buys anything she finds interesting and brings it back to her shop to sell. We have hand beaded purses from San Fransisco, leather journals from Italy, hand crafted pottery from South Africa, and an amazing collection of antique prints as well as paintings from various local artists for which we also offer museum quality framing for. I have to admit, it's probably the most interesting job I've ever had. Unfortunately, the economy sucks so bad right now that there's a chance of closing the store at any time. There are several stores along the street that are going out of business and shutting down simply because they don't have enough money coming in to keep the shops open. Linda says it's because a lot of people don't think to shop on Magazine Street. Most simply stick to the French Quarter and never wander uptown to our neck of the woods. I still haven't seen all that the street has to offer. With 6 miles of shops and bistros and salons, it's very intimidating. However, I have an appointment tomorrow morning at Earthsavers at the far end near the zoo. Maybe I'll use the opportunity to wander around a bit more.

Walking. It's actually very pleasant to be able to walk anywhere you want to go. I can walk to work every day. The only place I've driven to is WalMart, and even that's close enough to walk to (if you're feeling brave and up to walking about 12 blocks). There's even a two story McDonald's four blocks away. Having never really lived in a city, I'm glad we snatched up the apartment as quickly as we did. Sure it's a bitch getting in and out the gate, and yeah, we have to share a washer and dryer with the other five apartments, but it's in such a convenient location. I don't have to worry about getting out and getting too lost or anything too bad happening to me so long as I don't stay out after dark.

Our birthday's are this weekend. We had talked about going to the Down show on the 21st, but we haven't really spoken of it since. It would have been cool to have been able to see the opening show as well as the closing, but you never know how things are going to turn out. However, I did get Clint a fun Valentine's Day gift.

Carved love god )

I don't know if he's actually some sort of love god, but it's fun to think so. Clint says, "He's using his sword to protect my swords. Buahaha!"

Well, it's about time for me to go check the laundry.

This is our last week in town. By this weekend we will be residents of New Orleans.

Sudden?

Not really.

Since Clint finished his manager-in-training classes, his DM has been trying to find a store south of the lake for him to take over. Until another one of the Nola stores loses a manager, he's going to be assisting at the store on the corner of Canal and Bourbon. Drop by and say hi.

Speaking of bourbon...we had a "Good Riddance" party Saturday night. Charlie and Linda came by and we ripped and roared for a while. The good time continued until Amanda and Aaron dropped by, and I think Clint offended Aaron somehow in his drunkenness. I don't really remember what they were talking about (or why the rest of us were laughing so hard at them)...but I think it had something to do with Satan. Eventually Evan Williams got the best of Clint and Charlie, and we had to call it a night.

The alcohol let me sleep well Saturday night, but I had a nightmare last night. I don't remember the details, just that I woke up ridged with terror believing that if I turned over and looked off the edge of the bed something that followed me out of my nightmare would be there waiting for me.

It was awful.

Nicholas Was...

older than sin, and his beard could grow no whiter. He wanted to die.

The dwarfish natives of the Arctic caverns did not speak his language, but conversed in their own, twittering tongue, conducted incomprehensible rituals, when they were not actually working in the factories.

Once every year they forced him, sobbing and protesting, into Endless Night. During the journey he would stand near every child in the world, leave one of the dwarves' invisible gifts by its bedside. The children slept, frozen into time.

He envied Prometheus and Loki, Sisyphus and Judas. His punishment was harsher.
